Jumping joy in the garden with the leader of the pack Megan Goehring

Megan Goehring photographed by Eyoalha Baker for Jump for Joy Photo Project and Palm Springs Cultural Center Artist Residency

Megan kindly arranged for almost a dozen Girl Guides to meet us at this garden located behind the Demuth Community Center. We had done jumps all around the garden with all the girls and their mothers, so Megan was the last to jump, and boy can she jump! I appreciate Megan’s dedication and involvement in all that she does with and for the community.

Get to know a bit about Megan:
Q: What inspires you to jump for joy?
A: Seeing a 3rd grader in one of my nutrition education classes try a new vegetable and love the taste!

Q: How was your experience doing the jumping photos?
A:
It was a little crazy getting all the Scouts organized to jump, but they had a blast. Feel honored to be included in the Jump for joy Photo Project. 🙂

Q: How do you describe the feeling of joy?
A:
It’s like an electric current running through my body – in the best way! It motivates me to push through the “tough stuff.”

Q: What is your greatest passion in life?
A:
Connecting people to each other in my community. We all have gifts that are better when shared – we need more of that!

Q: How do you feel about being part of a community project that promotes joy?
A:
I felt cheerful because I like getting involved in projects.

Q: If you could do anything in the world, what would it be?
A:
Figure out how to distribute healthy food around the world so that no one was hungry.

Q: What are you working on or creating?
A:
Working on community partnerships to let more people know about the matching funds we have available at the Certified Farmers’ Markets for people participating in the CalFresh and WIC programs.

Q: Mini bio or something special you want to share.
A:
I love Palm Springs – just paid off the mortgage on our 83 year old house!
