Making friends and sharing joy with Leticia Tinoco at the Buckshot cafe

Leticia Tinoco photographed by Eyoalha Baker for jump for Joy Photo Project and Palm Springs Cultural Center Artist Residency

We stopped in at the Buckshot Cafe on the way home form an amazing road trip to Salvation Mountain. The ladies working at the Buckshot were super nice and friendly, so obviously I invited them to jump for joy. Leticia was the shyest of the three and took a little convincing. She hesitantly came across the street o this cool abandoned building with graffitied walls. We had a little bit of a language barrier but that didn’t stop us from connecting, laughing and getting this incredible jump of joy. After jumping around a bit, her shyness seemed to almost disappear. I loved her bright and friendly perence and so happy she took a chance and came to jump with us.

I particularly love it when people who seem shy or uninterested in playing and jumping around, step out of their comfort zone to try something silly and end up having a great time and shining a little brighter.

Thank you Leticia for being you and for sharing you bright, shiny joyful self with us!
