Sharing the joy of the human spirit in mid air around the world!
International Photography Project
Definition of JOY
1 – the emotion evoked by well-being, success, or good fortune or by the prospect of possessing what one desires. Delight. The expression or exhibition of such emotion : gaiety.
2 – a state of happiness or felicity : bliss
3 – a source or cause of delight.
Why jumping?
Jumping is fun.
Jumping is up lifting.
Jumping is celebration.
Jumping is good for your health.
Jumping is silly, freeing and energizing.
Jumping is a unique expression of who you are.
You use your own energy, strength and determination to jump.
Jumping for joy celebrates all that is good and positive in the world.
Jumping gets your blood pumping and gives you an adrenaline rush.
Jumping is a metaphor for life and a symbol for expressing and sharing joy.
“Surrounding yourself with images that uplift your spirit is as important for your health as nutritious food.” – Deepak Chopra – Origin Magazine
I meet up with people to do jumping photo sessions with the intention of creating and sharing the energy of joy.
I take photos as people jump up into the air and share their energy of joy with the world. This fun, playful action symbolizes lifting ourselves and others up with the energy of joy.
By focusing on the energy of joy and creating a compilation of joyful photos, I am creating a unified community that showcases creativity, positivity, joy and fun that uplifts both participants and viewers.
Capturing the expression of joy through the simple act of jumping, reminds us to take ourselves and life a little less seriously, if just for a few moments.
“When you ask a person to jump, his attention is mostly directed toward the act of jumping and the mask falls so that the real person appears.” – Philippe Halsman
Leading up to 2012, there were theories that the world was coming to an end… We are still here. The world is still turning and with the speed of our technology, it seems to be spinning faster than ever before. Wars and injustice are still raging rampant, people are still working themselves to death to obtain objects and status in individualistic societies, and people are still dying from starvation when there is food enough to feed the world.
There is an increasing focus on positivity and joy in the social consciousness that IS changing the world as we know it.
I am passionate about showcasing positive, ethical people/leaders, creators and change makers. I’m inspired by people improving the world by doing what they love, people who are positively inspiring the world with integrity, and taking risks to make their life dreams into reality. People are focusing on self love, joy, peace, community and cooperation.
There is an overwhelming movement and desire to create a better world, a better place to live, for everyone and I want to capture and share that energy.
Sharing Jump for Joy photos is my way to reach the true joy and childlike playfulness within people, and spread the powerful energy of joy around the world.
Let’s play, create positive images, laugh and Jump for Joy!

Wonderful project, joy is so much more than happiness; deeper and more abiding! I’ve heard joy defined as God being glad to be with us, and us with God, no matter what’s happening.

My orthopedic surgeon would kill me if I jumped or ran on my artificial knees…yet sometimes I dream of jogging.

Well kill your orthopaedic surgeon first and then he/she won’t know about it, seriously what Joy is there in replacing somebody’s joints and then not telling them to live life to the full? 🙂

What a great concept for a blog. I have to chuckle though because after four foot surgeries, I can’t jump! But I jump in my head. Does that count? God bless and keep on jumping.

This sounds amazing! Have you been able to collect the 1000 photo’s yet? Also, where do you hope to exhibit the select few? Online or in a gallery, etc.? I really want to see how this project turns out. Best of luck!

Hi Adriyanna.. I am still working on collecting the photos, I have a couple of hundred so far and a lot of world to visit still 🙂 I have not selected which cities I will be showing in yet, although I think it will include Vancouver and Los Angeles. If you sign up for the newsletter and like on fb and follow on twitter so you can follow along and read about the featured jumpers.
