BARRIE MOWATT

Q: What inspired you to jump for joy?
A:
YOU! I love the project, the visual impact messaging. I’d love to see it happen all over the world… on streetcars, busses, warehouse shacks, billboards… in Soweto, Berlin, The Favellas of Rio, Jerusalem, Ankara, Damascus, Moscow, Mumbai, Calcutta, Hubin, Guangzhou, Beijing, Lhasa, Dubai, Cairo, Addis Ababa, Dar Saalem, Casablanca, Tunis, in Iraq, Iran, Lapland etc. … capturing locals and their local garb… and eventually bringing all of these together as one gigantic United Nations pic or Canadian Museum of Human Rights Installation.

Q. How did jumping photos make you feel?
A:
I felt … kidlike… joyful… anxious. I love doing these jumps, been doing them all over the world since the Toyota ad days…

Q: How does joy impact your life?
A:
‘JOY’…… is contagious……… energizing…… liberating…… it’s essential to daily living……visualizing the jumping pics in itself is uplifting… bringing a smile to my face and appreciation for my life………

MURRAY NICHOL

Q: What inspired you to jump for joy?
A:
I believe in joyful, liberating, spontaneous, uplifting experiences!

Q. Your experience doing the jumping photos?
A:
Jumping made me feel like a kid. The entire experience was invigorating and highly entertaining. I would strongly encourage others to jump (and jump high!) and to be prepared for 100% fun!

Q: How does joy impact your life?
A:
I think we all need joy as human beings to feel complete. A wonderful element of joy is that it can be self-generated and available to us 24/7. A spontaneous, joyful experience can spin our habits of routine 180 degrees. I wonder how many of us experience joy, especially the uninhibited kind, on a regular basis. Another spinoff of manifesting joy for ourselves and others is that the joyful activity could very well generate more joy. Imagine: joy to the power of 1,000,000 or . . . 1 billion!

Q: What are your greatest passion in life?
A:
Music, food, travel, Mother Nature (especially sunsets!), visual arts, intimate conversation. . . Anything that stimulates my senses!

As a member of the Vancouver Biennale Board of Directors, I am grateful for all the engaging experiences with artists, artworks, and the public. One joyful, smile-inducing #VanBiennale art installation is A-MAZE-ING LAUGHTER, located in Morton Park (at Davie Street and Denman Street) in the West End of Vancouver.

This is it! Hope to get all the last touches done today (if my arms will hold out). I found a spot to add a couple more posters and I have to graffiti out the graffiti in my photos. I had no idea that having graffiti in my mural is illegal, the City of Vancouver has asked that I remove it. So, it ads another element to the mural. I will learn how to be an un-graffiti artist today 🙂

Mural making on my mind… #jumpforjoy #Vancouver #mural #publicart

This is a little section of the first Jumping mural I made last summer, the new Jump for Joy Photo mural I will create this year will be very similar only on a much larger wall and in a more exposed location – The corner of Abbot and West Pender Street (DTES) Vancouver BC Canada.

I have a lot to do before even beginning the mural, most importantly – raising the funds to make it happen and taking at least 100-200 more jump for joy photos over the next few months – thats a lot of jumping photos!

I have put together a Kickstarter campaign and as soon as Im able to get an intro video produced, I will publish it and begin fundraising. I would very much appreciate your help in spreading the word once the campaign starts.. and if you are able to donate to the project and help spread the joy – that would be even more amazing 🙂

I will keep you posted as things progress.

Have a wonderful day!

Another magically fun shoot from the weekend. The lovely Stephanie came prepared with fun props for the shoot 🙂 We even had a cheering squad… Julieanne Chazotte + Richard Secrist (yesterdays jump for joy photo) stuck around and made the shoot even more fun by cheering us on 🙂

Have a fabulous day!
