Daily Hive / VancityBuzz on shares Chimp.net interview with Eyoalha Baker about sharing joy in the community.

This is a surprise… an interview I did for Chimp.com On Purpose last year is featured in Daily Hive today 🙂

I love that Chimp is encouraging giving. Right now if you register on the link in the article, they will give you $10 to give to charity AND if you add $10 they will match it!

That means your $10 ends up being $30 towards the cause. I suggest donating to: A Better Life Foundation (or to Atira Women’s Resource Society both are amazing causes) as they help make sure that people, like those I met while making the mural are getting nourishment and opportunities for a better life.

Win, win 🙂

CBC – Word of the Day: Joie! Jump for joy Photo Project

I love this sweet article written By C’est la vie host Bernard St-Laurent and Word Lady Johanne Blais for CBC Radio called Word of the Week: JOIE!

Its basically a little French lesson in joyful French phrases …

Sauter de joie : To jump for joy
J’ai sauté de joie : I jumped for joy
Quand aurons-nous la joie de vous revoir? : When shall we have the pleasure of seeing you again?
Les joies de l’hiver : The joys of winter
L’Hymne à la joie : The Ode to Joy
Y’a d’la joie : (A song by Charles Trenet) There is Joy

Jump for Joy founder fights negatives in life with joyful photos. An interview by James Phu

Excerpt from interview:

James Phu: The Jump for Joy project that you started is one of the most beautiful and unique initiatives I have seen in a while. What is the background story behind the Jump for Joy Project?

Eyoälha Baker: We know that images are used as powerful tools of persuasion in business and politics, and I noticed that news and media tend to showcase mainly negative, fear-based images. It got me thinking about how this affects us as a society and how we in turn interact with each other. How does it make us feel as a collective, to see images that depict sad, terrorizing news on a daily basis? In general, it breads fear and distrust. My idea with the Jump for Joy Photo Project is that if societies as whole can be influenced to shut off, and fear each other by negative images, they can also be influenced to open up and be kinder by positive images. I look at it as the group think concept, where people feed off each other’s energy in a group situation, such as a riot, where people who may not normally be destructive get caught up in the situation. The same can be true with an overwhelming sense of joy. If there are mass feelings of joy being felt, people tend to be more open, more helpful, hopeful and want to help each other. So I began taking uplifting, positive images of people jumping for joy, and sharing them around the world. The intention is to help shift some of the negative energy being fed to us….

Happy day, Sweet memory. The Lovely Fiona Forbes Interviewing Janice Abbott and Eyoalha Baker

Its been a few weeks since the opening event for the Wall of Joy mural. It was so nice to have Fiona Forbes stop by to join in on the fun. Fiona spoke with Janice Abbott and myself about the joy of creating the mural for On The Scene at Shaw TV. Fiona has always been a big supporter of the Jump for Joy Photo Project as well as many Charities and non-profits around the city such as Atira Womens Resource Society who partnered with me in the creation of this beautiful community project. Thank you Fiona and Shaw TV for sharing our experience with people who couldn’t make it out to our BBQ!

I love the kindness and support this project received. I love how many people, literally around the world, contributed to the creation of this public art installation. The joy is being felt, thank you everyone. It is an example that demonstrates that we are all capable of creating beautiful things together when motivated by the joy of uplifting each other.

Have a wonderful day!

So cool… I was honoured when contacted by the super talented journalist Tao Sheng, Editor of Chinese Magazine – Rise Weekly. She has featured the Jump for Joy Photo Project and my fundraising efforts for the Jump for Joy Photo Mural 2.0 BIG JOY.

She discovered my project through my Instagram feed (social media rocks). We met up to chat about the mural, how people can get involved, and even be in the mural by pledging on the Indiegogo Campaign.

I was happy to share a few the fun pics of amazing people, doing good things in the world who have taken time to be part of the project so far. We even talked a bit about me doing a Jump for Joy mural in Beijing one day! 🙂

But first, I will need to raise the funds for the 18,000 sq ft Jump for Joy Photo Mural 2.0 BIG JOY I’m working on in the DTES of Vancouver. Right now, I have less than 17 days to raise the remaining $12,000 or, I wont have the money to create this epic wall of joy.

I need your help to make this massive wall of joy a reality. Help spread joy – follow this link and make a pledge of any amount. Every little pledge counts and helps spread joy around the world.

A warm hearted thank you and have a wonderful day!

At Shaw TV recording studio for That Talk Show this morning to promote the Indigogo Fundraiser for the Jump for Joy 2.0 Mural. Bianca Solterbeck and Peter Verge had a quick chat with me and of course, we jumped for joy… 🙂

The interview airs tonight, June 25 at 10:30pm.

I need to raise $12,515 in less than 19 days in order to create this epic wall of jumping joy. Over 200 enlarged photographs of people jumping for joy (6ft x 6ft and 4ft x 6ft) will be pasted to an 18,000 sq ft wall in Vancouver’s DTES.

The wall the photos will be posted to is a SRO (single room occupancy) run by Atira Womens Resource Society. The mural will be a massive joy filled collage of people served by Atira and people of all walks of life from all around the city.

Full story and video explaining the project here

I need your help to create this beautiful, uplifting work that will bring people together and be shared around the world.

Please consider making a contribution of any amount, every little bit will help to reach the goal.

Thank you for helping spread the joy and uplift hundreds of peoples days 🙂

The jump of the day is Peter Verge @itsthattalkshow w @b_solterbeck + @PeterVerge :) #jumpforjoy

I’ll be a guest on That Talk Show with Bianca Solterbeck and Peter Verge chatting about creating the new, gigantic Vancouver Jump for Joy Photo Mural. The show airs this Thursday at 6:30 and 10:30 on Shaw TV Vancouver.

I still need the funds to make the mural happen, and only have 22 days left to raise the remaining funds on Indiegogo. I really need your help to make it all happen. If you are able to contribute even $10 or $25 towards the mural, you will help spread massive JOY around the world!
