Capturing the joy and power of nature with Vicky Hood

Vicky Hood photographed by Eyoalha Baker for Jump for Joy Photo Project and Palm Springs Cultural Center Artist residency

Vicky is one of the lovely women who came out hiking and jumping for joy along the trails of Indian Canyon. We took turns doing jumping photos in different locations along the way, this spot was particularly beautiful and unique. This photo captures the strength, grace and beauty of both the natural surroundings and of Vicky.

Get to know a little more about Vicky:
Q: What inspires you to jump for joy?
A:
Your project inspired me to jump for joy.

Q: How was your experience doing the jumping photos?
A:
Very positive vibe throughout the process.

Q: How do you describe the feeling of joy?
A:
I have always been a person who has a very positive outlook on life and this would include feeling joy throughout the day.

Q: What is your greatest passion in life?
A:
I really do not have any great passions—other than the love and concern I have for my family.

Q: How do you feel about being part of a collaborative community project that promotes joy?
A:
This is a terrific project, but I am not normally interested in collaborative projects unless there can be (but may not happen) a measurable positive outcome.

Q: If you could do anything in the world, what would it be?
A:
At this point, very concerned and bothered by current politics in DC and in very conservative parts of our country. Would love to see this turn around.

Q: What are you working on?
A:
I just joined the board of Desert X, and that is my focus right now.

Q: Mini bio or something special you want to share.
A:
We live in south Palm Springs during the winter. We live in Chicago the rest of the year. My husband and I are recently retired lawyers, and are enjoying our new, calmer lives.

Thank you for taking part in the project and sharing your jumping joy Vicky!
