It was such a pleasure to meet up with Steven and his husband Paul. We were all excited to play and explore around the Robolights, then I captured this awesome jump of Steves, just hovering above the neighbourhood.
Get to know a little about Steve:
Q: What inspires you to jump for joy?
A: My husband, Paul, is a daily inspiration for me. So is the beautiful Coachella Valley.
Q: How was your experience doing the jumping photos?
A: I loved doing the jumping photos! It took me back to my days dancing in the parades at Disneyland! I was a bit “stiff” before the photos; but felt like a kid again, after!
Q: How do you describe the feeling of joy?
A: Being euphoric. “Lighter than Air” A “free” feeling. Joy has impacted my life in many ways over the years. Most recently, joy reached a peak in my life, when I married the man I love – My husband, Paul, on May 10, 2014.
Q: What is your greatest passion in life?
A: My greatest passions in life include sharing my life with my amazing husband, Paul. I have been passionate about movies, theatre and television – As a viewer and a “maker” – since I was 10 years old. I am also passionate about travel. I’m looking forward to when I can take Paul to Europe, and show him the amazing sights and history! I am also passionate about design, in all its many forms. Interiors, photography, visual display, set decoration, etc.
Q: How do you feel about being part of a community project that promotes joy?
A: I have only lived in the Coachella Valley since June of last year – But I instantly felt a strong sense of community; of belonging. More so than any other city I have lived in. People here are more relaxed, caring, and approachable. I am very honored to be a part of the Jump for Joy community project! It’s a wonderful concept and idea, that will bring even more of the community together, once it’s completed!
Q: If you could do anything in the world, what would it be?
A: If I could do anything in the world, it would be to produce movies, television and theatre full-time. I am passionate about creating, making, and sharing stories through these powerful mediums. I am presently working towards making my dream a reality, but I know that I have to be strong and razor-focused. Unfortunately, like most artists, I have a “Need To Struggle To Pay The Bills” mentality that has held me back or lead me in the wrong direction in the past. 2018 is my Year of Change!
Q: What are you working on?
A: With Paul, we are developing several projects. These include a web series that takes place in Palm Springs, a feature film, possible documentaries, and producing events and celebrity book signings at various venues including the Palm Springs Cultural Center and Oscar’s. You can follow us on Facebook: The Filmmakers’ Gallery and Bridge Falls Entertainment.
Q: Mini bio or something special you want to share.
A: I am currently a resident of Palm Springs. One fact about me, is that I’m a third generation SoCal native. Not many of us around, for sure! :). As a result of my passion for film, television and theatre since I was 10 years old – I feel so fortunate and blessed to have worked in many capacities in the entertainment industry over the years. I am most proud of my memberships in the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, the Writer’s Guild of America, Film Independent, the International Documentary Association, and formerly, the International Animated Film Society (ASIFA-Hollywood).
