Flying high! CJ Williams jumps for joy in Palm Springs

CJ Williams photographed by Eyoalha Baker for Palm Springs Cultural Center Artist Residency

I met CJ while he was having his lunch. I began telling him and his friend Twyla about my project and asked if they’d like to take part. I’m really glad CJ decided to jump, he wasn’t that interested at first, until I told him more about the concept of sharing joy through the energy of the images… and, that he could jump for joy with his joint – now legal in California!

CJ has a powerful presence and strength about him that comes through in his photos. I have no doubt that he will accomplish anything he puts his mind to.

Get to know a little about CJ:
Q: What inspires you to jump for joy?
A:
Life in general but specifically I jumped out of joy, because I’m happy inside and out with who I am and who I’m becoming…

Q: How was your experience doing the jumping photos?
A:
Before when she asked me I was apprehensive because, who is this random lady wanting to take my picture. Then I saw her work and my attitude towards the project changed and I was willing to be apart…

Q: How do you describe the feeling of joy?
A:
Joy is like busting 10 nuts at the same time with the woman of your dreams. Without joy life is passionless and sad. It has impacted my life by being able to experience joy during the highest highs of my life and the lowest of lows, joy is joy…

Q: What is your greatest passion in life?
A:
My greatest passion has yet to be determined. I do feel an affinity for cannabis. Why, it works well with my chemistry!😎

Q: How do you feel about being part of a community project that promotes joy?
A:
I hope it brightens someone’s life. I feel like we need this since Trump is in office.

Q: If you could do anything in the world, what would it be?
A:
Do anything? My thoughts on that is, you CAN do anything in the world, it’s just a matter of time before I’m doing it.

Q: What are you working on or creating?
A:
An urban farm.

Q: Mini bio or something special you want to share.
A:
I’m just a cool dude from the south side of Chicago.
