Mid-Century Modern jumping joy with David Freedman in Palm Springs #shareyourjoy

David Freedman photographed by Eyoalha Baker for Jump for Joy Photo Project and the Palm Springs Cultural Center Artist Residency Program.

David Freedman opened his beautiful mid century modern home and invited us in to create his jumping photo and share some joy.

His home is clearly his pride and joy, and it was wonderful to be able to share time creating photos with him and learning about his love of architecture, photography and the inspiration for the design of his space.

To learn more about David, read on:

Q: What inspires you to want to jump for joy?
A:
Living in Palm Springs.

Q. What was your experience doing the jumping photos? How did you feel?
A:
I enjoyed it. I didn’t know I could jump so high.

Q: How do you describe the feeling of joy? How has joy impacted your life?
A:
I experienced joy when I first visited Palm Springs in 1995 and decided that I wanted to move here. In 2014, I finally did.

Q: What is/are your greatest passion in life?
A:
Pursuing justice, making the world a better place and making my garden grow. God tells me to do the first two, and Voltaire and Leonard Bernstein the last one.

Q: What does it mean to be part of the Coachella Valley community?
A:
We need a lot of joy right now in the Coachella Valley. I’m overjoyed to contribute to the project.

Q: If you could do anything in the world, what would it be?
A:
Make the world sustainable. I help make that happen as a member of the Palm Springs Sustainability Commission.

Q: What are you working on?
A:
I spend a lot of my free time in my kitchen, cooking the fruits, vegetables and herbs I grow in my garden. I post some of the dishes on my Facebook page.

Q: Tell us something about you:
A:
I practiced international corporate law in Paris and New York for 30 years before moving to Palm Springs. On the whole, I’d rather be in Palm Springs.
