Sharing joy with George Covino near the Tahquitz Canyon, Palm Springs for Jump for Joy Photo project.

Meet George Covino.

When my Palm Springs Jump for Joy team, Thomas, Joe and I arrived at our meeting location, the Tahquitz Canyon Visitor Center parking lot, George was waiting and ready to jump!

We felt George’s uplifting energy and excitement about sharing joy immediately when we met him.

George wore his favorite colourful t-shirt and brought some colourful scarves to play with for his jumping photoshoot… he’d also thoughtfully brought some delicious local honey and dates as a gift for us! Thank you George!

After hellos and hugs, we set our intention to have fun, be creative and to share our joy. The jumping began, and it was clear that George has bountiful joy to share with the world.

To get to know George a little more, read on….

Q: What inspires you to want to jump for joy?
We are so lucky to live in this beautiful community. The mountains and desert are amazing places that inspire so many artists and performers. I’ve made it a goal to never take the mountains for granted and to experience as much of the natural beauty around us as possible. That’s why I suggested Tahquitz Canyon for the photo shoot.

Q: What was your experience doing the jumping photos? How did you feel – before and after?
Eyoalha made me fly. I’m still flying!

Q: How do you describe the feeling of joy? How has joy impacted your life?
Joy is a super power. It starts within and radiates compassion, peace and well being. I’ve tried to use it to bring positive energy to everyone I meet.

Q: What is your greatest passion in life? Why?
My family – Will, Toots, PeeWee and Kona, Auntie Marie, and Anne to name a few. My friends. They all bring me joy.

Q: What does it mean to be part of the Coachella Valley community? How do you feel about being part of a community project that promotes joy?
I’m so thankful for the Palm Springs Cultural Center and the activities they are doing which promote a strong sense of community – the films and festivals, Among Friends, the Farmers Market. I’ve met so many great people by attending fun and interesting events. There’s an openness here that makes it easy to connect with people.

Q: If you could do anything in the world, what would it be? Why? And are you presently working towards making it happen?
I’m lucky enough to be doing just what I want to do.

Q: Mini bio:
I grew up in Medford, MA and moved to Palm Springs in 2000. I can’t imagine living anywhere else.
