Last night at Spanish Banks, Vancouver BC I met up with an old time friend – Blair, to do a super fast supper fun jump shoot. He got some crazy high jumps in before a delicious crab feast. He also helped me sort out my inconsistent flash issues and taught me a trick on getting the auto flash to flash even when it didn’t want to. Thanks Blair.

Have a splendid day!

keep looking…

“Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle.” ― Steve Jobs

paradoxical…

“It is paradoxical that many educators and parents still differentiate between a time for learning and a time for play without seeing the vital connection between them.” – Leo F. Buscaglia

Upon death Ancient Egyptians believed…

“Ancient Egyptians believed that upon death they would be asked two questions and their answers would determine whether they could continue their journey in the afterlife. The first question was, ‘Did you bring joy?’ The second was, ‘Did you find joy?” – Dr. Leo Buscaglia

I love this quote.. I found it on my dear friend Laurel L. Lewis’ page about death and dying which creates discussion aimed at embracing death as a part of life. The page is called Deathis….

There are very few things which are certain in life and death is one of them… I intend to enjoy my time along the way, and whether there is an afterlife or not, I hope to answer yes and yes when it is my time for death… 🙂

at least one person…

From my list of 101 things I want to do in my life… #30. Make an impression on at least one person that changes their life for the better in some way.DONE 🙂 this one feels good.

This was actually something that happened quite a long time ago but I wasn’t aware of it until recently when one of my long time friends and I were talking… I won’t go into detail about what it was as it is completely unrelated to my project except for the fact that I was able to inspire her to make positive changes in her life simply though living the example of my perspective on life. It made me feel really good.

I hope that I will be able to inspire a positive perspective on life, in some small way, one person at a time through my jumping photo project and being true to myself and who I am. I suppose in some time I may be able to tell… right now, in this moment, I am just happy to know that I inspired at least one person 🙂

Jump photo of the day – it’s me! (slef-portrait by Eyoälha). August 24, 2012

Jumpin with the lion Self-portrait. Photo by Eyoälha Baker
http://www.jumpforjoyphotoproject.com

The other day I arrived to a jump shoot location at the base of the Lions Gate Bridge a bit early.. so, what better way to pass the time then to do a few jumping self-portraits while waiting for my jumping person to arrive.

I am still in the process of healing an ankle injury, so self-porrtrait jumping (and even the amount of walking I can do) is a little more difficult as I have to jump and land with most of my weight on my left foot. I had a great time regardless, worked up a sweat and laughed a lot with myself. I can’t wait for my ankle to be fully healed so I can do more self-portrait jumping photos and take advantage of the amazing locations / hikes with incredible views available here in Vancouver.. in the meantime, just loving where I am and enjoying the limited jumping that I can do.

Have a splendid day!

do it joyfully.. Quote

“Creativity is the quality that you bring to the activity that you are doing. It is an attitude, an inner approach – how you look at things….

Whatsoever you do, if you do it joyfully, if you do it lovingly, if your act of doing is not purely economical, then it is creative. If you have something growing out of it within you, if it gives you growth, it is spiritual, it is creative, it is divine. You become more divine as you become more creative.” – Osho

People with interesting lives… Quote

“People with interesting lives have no frills. They trade their cities. They invest in projects with risks. They are interested in people that are the opposite of them. They resign without another job in sight and accept invitations to do what they have never done before. They are willing to change their favorite colour and dish. They start from scratch many times … They are not frightened by the time that passess them by. They go up on a stage, they change their hair style, do crazy things for love and buy one-way tickets.” – Clauss Ferrancini

One of my favourite quotes.. copied from this weeks Newsletter with Alice Chen.

What is happiness… Quote

“What is happiness except the simple harmony between a man and the life he leads?” – Albert Camus

What is happiness to you? What does happy feel like?

To me one image that inspires a happy feeling for me – playing around, doing jumping photos in warm sunshine with bare feet on a sandy white beach lined with tropical plants with bright flowers, warm clear blue tropical water and deep belly laughing with good friends…. this image makes me smile just when I think of it.. and feels amazing when I’m doing it. Its nice to have one of these little images stored away to lift you up when ever you get distracted from happy… I suppose tapping into your creative imagination is technically called visualization.. or daydreaming… call it what you like, its fun and feels nice.. give it a try 🙂

Or, if you want an alternative..on how to be unhappy http://chrisguillebeau.com/3×5/unhappy from the Art of Non-Conformaty … reverse psychology… 😉
