“Are you ready to jump
Get ready to jump
Don’t ever look back oh baby
Yes, I’m ready to jump
Just take my hand
get ready to jump” – Madona
“The camera does not simply record an event but also records what the photographer chooses to see. Photographs are a statement about one’s perception of the world. They are a reflection and definition of self.” – Charles Williams
When was the last time you skipped as high as you could down the street? It is so much fun!

“Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever… it remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything.” — Aaron Siskind
“(Trampoline) jumping is naturally fun, enjoyable, and even thrilled. We all know that kids love to jump on beds, and most everybody loves bounce houses and trampolines. Why? Because moving up and down – pulsing, vibrating, enjoying another dimension of freedom and connection – is inherently fun, good for you, and often feels downright wonderful.” Kevin Hall positivearticles.com
Although aesthetics is clearly an important aspect of creating art, Jump for Joy! Photo Project is focused on more than just the aesthetics.. I believe in the positive effects of joy and the creative collaboration between photographer and subject. The photo shoot and final photos also serve a purpose and are intended to have a positive effect on all involved. We are co-creating art with an anticipated outcome that is intended to create a feeling of joy and inspiration for all – myself as photographer (and jumper), the person creatively expressing their essence of joy in mid jump and the viewer of the final image.
“Why don’t you jump for joy and be happy? Why don’t you jump for joy and be glad ? If you just try it, feel better And have the best time you ever had.” advice from the Jacksons – Jump for Joy song lyrics…
“Only by seeking challenges can we hope to find the best in ourselves.” – Robert Rodriguez
Enjoy your day!
“Once I decide to do something, I can’t have people telling me I can’t. If there’s a roadblock, you jump over it, walk around it, crawl under it.” – Kitty Kelley
“You can discover more about a person in an hour of play than in a year of conversation.” ~ Plato
I’ve discovered a way to reach the true joy and child-like playfulness within people by having them jump for joy in front of the lens!
This playful, child-like joy is why I’ve launched this project — Jump for Joy! Photo Project to capture the essence of joy around the world. By doing this simple project, I hope to be a part of a global shift in our collective focus from the negative to the positive. It can be so easy to get caught up in the stresses of life, with trade deficits, wars, disasters, injustices, difficult relationships, bills etc. We can sometimes tend to feel weighed down when continually being fed negative stories online and in the news at every turn. As an artist, my hope is to shift some of that focus and have some fun! Let’s remind ourselves to take ourselves a little less seriously, play, laugh and Jump for Joy!

Thank you so much for your interest in Jump for Joy! photo project. I am still in the planning process and the project is growing and evolving as I go along. I would love to give you a little more information on what I am doing…
My goal is to travel to as many areas/countries as possible over a years time taking photos of people having a lot of fun and expressing their own unique style of Jumping for Joy! I then intend to compile the photos in an art photo book of 1,000 jumping photos and a photography exhibit that showcases a select few of the best JUMPING images.
I was originally hoping to complete this project by the end of January 2013 but it looks as though this date may need to be pushed back a month or two in order to complete the post production end of things. Sample images and more info can be found at this link: www.indiegogo.com/jumpforjoy and http://eyoalha.smugmug.com.
If you would like to be a part of this fun project email me your: name, email, phone and address and I will see if I can arrange to do Jumping Photos where you are.
Thank you again for your interest and support! Your feedback and suggestions will be greatly appreciated and I will be posting updates and changes to my project on this blog as well as my facebook page as the project and locations evolve so please like my page if you haven’t already and check back for updates: www.facebook.com/pages/Eyoälha-Baker-Art-Photography
Much love to you, and hope to see you Jumping for Joy! Very soon 🙂
“To succeed, jump as quickly at opportunities as you do at conclusions.”
“Some animals, such as the kangaroo, employ jumping (commonly called hopping in this instance) as their primary form of locomotion, while others, such as frogs, use it only as a means to escape predators.” – Wikipedia
>>> “Humans jump just for the joy of it..” – me
I am still in the process of raising funds to complete this project and would be grateful for any contributions you are able to make to help me bring Jump for Joy! Photo Project to the world and to reach my goal of creating a book 1000 photos showcasing the beauty of the human spirit – in-mid air – around the world.
