If you can’t go through an obstacle, go around it…

“Water does not resist. Water flows. When you plunge your hand into it, all you feel is a caress. Water is not a solid wall, it will not stop you. But water always goes where it wants to go, and nothing in the end can stand against it. Water is patient. Dripping water wears away a stone. Remember that, my child. Remember you are half water. If you can’t go through an obstacle, go around it. Water does.” – Margaret Atwood

A few photos from the Vancouver Jump for Joy photo mural opening event <3

An incredible day celebrating the completion of the mural and sharing joy with participants, passers by and the local community in Chinatown. So proud of my nephew Sekoya who took these photos, I handed him my camera and after a very brief explanation how to use it… he captured these incredible photos :) I cant wait to create more jumping joy photos to complete my book and make more murals!

express creative energy in a way that is uniquely specific to us…

“…we are continually bringing forth something that didn’t exist before. We are where the spark of Source energy meets its shape and form. Even in artistic mediums that are well-worn and ageless, we express creative energy in a way that is uniquely specific to us.” – Britta Reque-Dragicevic

Vancouver Jump for Joy Mural Opening today! Hooray! :)

Today we celebrate and be thankful for joy, creativity, art, uplifting each other, community, fun and.. well, all the good feeling vibes and positive energy that we feel when we are inspired to jump for joy.

Today is the Vancouver Jump for Joy Mural official opening. It is my honour to invite people to share and celebrate the experience of creating this joy-filled public art work.

The mural will be on the wall for an entire year. Today we have permission from the city to hold off car traffic. We’ve moved garbage bins, and are tidying up so we can linger, mingle, jump around and dance in the lane way.

The event is being held between 1:30-4:30 and is located in the lane beside 161 East Pender Street.

Get your jumping shoes on, stop by to do a jump photo in front of the mural! Tweet it to me: @jumpforjoyphoto #jumpforjoyphoto

A little message for the day –

Play. It keeps you young at heart. Let loose your ideas. Deconstruct your limits. Be open. Create your way every day. Smile at everything you can. Its all for you. This life is made for you, by you. Use it for yourself. Make it what you want. The imagination of play is your tool. Play today. – Eyoälha Baker <3

Photographs from the Vancouver Jump for Joy Mural by Eyoälha Baker

A few detail photos from the Vancouver Jump for Joy Mural by Eyoälha Baker. The mural is in the laneway beside 161 East Pender Street. I have not been able to find a way to photograph the entire wall which is 9000 Sq Ft (112ft wide x 32ft high).

Creating this work will forever be an experience that lives joyfully in my heart. I am inspired to create another and scoping out my next Jump for Joy mural location.

I would love to create the next Jump for Joy Photo Mural in Los Angeles, California. If you know someone in Los Angeles with a massive, empty building wall that could use some joy.. please put them in touch with me :)

Have a spectacular day!

start doing what you love…

“An amazing thing happens when you get honest with yourself and start doing what you love, what makes you happy. Your life literally slows down. You stop wishing for the weekend. You stop merely looking forward to special events. You begin to live in each moment and you start feeling like a human being. You just ride the wave that is life, with this feeling of contentment and joy. You move fluidly, steadily, calm and grateful. A veil is lifted, and a whole new perspective is born.” – via dailylovedose
